Palo Alto Career Coaching
Career Coach- Matthew Soroka
I have spent the past 15 years helping college students and early‑career professionals navigate career decisions, internships, resumes, and job searches, delivering hundreds of coaching appointments across residential, online, and graduate programs.
My work centers on students exploring options, changing direction, returning to education, or struggling to connect their education to meaningful careers, with a strong focus on first‑generation, adult, military‑connected, and career‑changing learners
My background includes working with undergraduate and MBA students who are securing roles at organizations such as Amazon, Dell Technologies, Deloitte, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, TE Connectivity, Tesla, The Hershey Company, Verizon, Highmark Health, Honeywell, and many others.
Seeing where students land and how they get there informs the coaching I provide to high school, college, and early-career clients today.
My goal is not simply to review a resume. I help students and recent graduates understand their situation, create a practical plan, and follow through on it.
If you feel stuck or unsure where to start, I offer calm, structured support and clear next steps, focusing on real progress rather than buzzwords or complicated frameworks.
What working together looks like
I use a simple, three-step process that keeps things practical and focused on progress.
Step 1: Understand your situation
We start by getting a clear picture of where you are now:
Major and academic history
Interests and strengths
Work experience and activities
Short-term and long-term goals
Obstacles, worries, or places you feel stuck
Step 2: Develop a practical plan
Next, we create a straightforward, realistic plan tailored to you:
Internship strategy and timelines
Career exploration steps (informational interviews, shadowing, research)
Resume and LinkedIn improvements
Simple networking goals you can actually follow
Job search strategy that fits your level and timeline
The plan is broken into clear, doable steps so you know exactly what to work on between sessions.
Step 3: Ongoing accountability
Progress comes from consistent action, not one-time advice.
Regular check-ins to review what’s been done
Adjustments to the plan as circumstances change
Encouragement and honest feedback
Support when things feel discouraging or overwhelming
My role is to help you keep moving, learn from each step, and build confidence as you go.
